A custom graduation identity designed for Sharon's Class of 2026 celebration. The brief was simple but personal: create a logo mark that felt celebratory, cohesive, and ready to live on printed merchandise gifted to guests and loved ones at the graduation party.

Background

Background

Graduation is one of those moments worth marking with intention. Sharon wanted something beyond a generic template: a custom design that felt personal to her milestone and could be applied cleanly across a range of physical merch. The challenge was designing a mark expressive enough to feel celebratory, while remaining clean and legible across every format it would live on.

Color Palette

Color Palette

Sharon came in with a clear color direction– blue and white, in line with her university colors at UMass Boston. I designed a first round of options honoring that palette, but also pitched an alternative in the second round: black and gold. Classic graduation colors with more warmth, better contrast across merch surfaces, and a timeless quality that would hold up beyond the day itself. After seeing both directions side by side, Sharon chose black and gold and it became the color palette for both the logo, merch and the entire event decor.

Merch Application

The logo was applied across five merch pieces—tote bags, hoodies, pins, and hand fans—each requiring the design to hold up at different scales, on different materials, and in different contexts. The two-line name treatment ("Sharon's / Graduation") provided clear hierarchy across all of them.

A full merch suite — tote bags, hoodies, pins, and hand fans — unified by a single custom identity that felt personal, celebratory, and considered. Sharon's reaction said it best:

"This is brilliant and cute. I love it." – Sharon
